Welcome to your new adventure
That’s me, walking up to the peak of Schafberg
Introduction to Bro Ray
Bro Ray (Adventure Name: “The BR:@”) is one of the founders of a Renewable Energy company in Malaysia, but somehow still manages to sneak a little time here and there for adventure travels. He loves the great outdoors, often venturing to the not-so-familiar places (without getting into trouble, of course :@) While he does go to the must-go must-see places, he often also takes detours and ventures outside the beaten track.
In his profession, his daily tasks would involve reading and writing many letters, agreements and legal documents, while in his leisurely times, he had written and produced several stage productions. Yet when it came to recording his adventures, he struggled within himself for many years to put pen to paper. He finally relented and started this blog for that purpose. However, he doesn’t intend for his readers to live their lives through him. He aims to share enough to whet the appetite for adventure travels among his readers, so that they can experience for themselves the great big world out there. As he would say, “Get out there and make your own stories”.
Message from The BR:@
I feel very honoured that you, readers of these blogs, have taken the time to immerse into some of the adventures I had been on, whether you merely stumbled across this website by accident or by the powers of internet algorithms, or you have a friend who introduced you to this website. I hope that by sharing my experiences and stories on the road, you will hopefully be inspired to step out there, whatever your station in life is right now. The photographs and stories contained herein perhaps will nudge you towards your own journey of a lifetime, and more!
The photographs shown in the blogs are taken either by my fellow adventure travellers or by me, mostly taken with just our phones. None of the photographs are professionally captured, bought from the internet or enhanced by digital means! Many times, I have to admit that the photographs I have published do not do justice to the places, buildings, sceneries and views. Really, you gotta go out there and see and experience them for yourselves.
The stories and recollections are often my own, sharing from my own perspective. In the blogs, I try to extract as much factual information about the places and summarize them for your easy reading without overwhelming you with unnecessary facts and statistics. Some omissions are intentional, as I also don’t want to impose my own ideas on you if you should choose to adventure to those places I had been. So please, do set your own itineraries and paths to suit your taste, budget, physical capability, diet, passion and sense of adventure.
I am no foodie, but I do love food – you can tell by looking at me! You will not find too many foodie destinations, special restaurants or food photographs mentioned in my blogs. In fact, most of the time, I just stumble upon a nice place and only if I feel that the place or food is unique, I may include them in my blogs. I am aware that not everyone shares the same food habits and dietary requirements as me due to allergies, intolerances or religious beliefs – hence, I try to be as sensitive as possible.
Often, my travels are on pretty tight budgets. Cheaper flights are ok for me, which normally means less legroom or more layovers, since I can sleep pretty well in the plane (I know some people just cannot – sorry!). I choose AirBnb or homestays as my preferred temporary homes, and almost always, near public transport hubs. The homes I choose normally come with at least a washing machine, so, I also don’t carry around too many sets of clothes. I generally try to save on breakfast by eating pre-packed foods brought from home, but I do occasionally splurge on some fine dining.
Are you ready to pack your bags and book that flight? After reading my stories, I hope you are motivated to step out into the great big world and make your own adventure travels – so, let’s go!
Finally, I request your kind indulgence to sign up with my website (no compulsion, of course). To do so, you only need to register a unique Adventure Name that contains “BR:@” (read as “BRAT”), eg. “BR:@ Babe”, “Star BR:@”, “I’m BR:@ man”, etc, after which a one-time confirmation will be sent to your email address (you will not be receiving any other emails from me, I promise). You are also requested to fill in two more segments, “Adventure travel destinations I have been to” and “Where I would like to go” (put in as many as you like), and you’re officially a “BR:@”.
Thank you all.
